Comelec invites public to witness final ACM testing in Dumaguete

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is inviting the public to witness the final testing and sealing of automated counting machines (ACMs) that will be used in the May 12 elections, scheduled to take place at Robinsons Place mall in Dumaguete City on May 6.

Lawyer Ian Macaraya, Comelec election officer for Negros Oriental capital, stated that this process ensures all ACMs are functioning properly and without issues before their deployment.

Comelec-Negros Island Region Director Lionel Marco Castillano said in an interview Wednesday that a total of 275 ACMs for Negros Oriental and 43 for Siquijor will be delivered to Dumaguete City on Thursday, April 24.

The units will then be stored at a hub before being deployed to the towns and cities on April 28 and undergo final testing at Robinsons Place mall on May 6.

A total of 1,946 registered voters from Barangay Tabuctubig and Barangay Poblacion 3 are expected to vote at the mall on election day, with voting taking place in the Atrium area.
