Comelec expects to announce winners within a week

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) expects to announce the winners of the May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections within a week.

Comelec Chairperson George Garcia stated that canvassing at the national level will take five to seven days after results are transmitted from municipal and provincial boards.

Garcia noted that unofficial results could be known as early as Election Day night due to automated counting machines using 12 satellites of Starlink’s internet service for faster transmission.

In comparison, the May 2022 elections took nine days for senators and 17 days for party-list groups to be proclaimed.

Comelec aims to avoid surprising the public with rapid election result transmission.
