Clarito's 21 rebounds lead Rain or Shine past NLEX

Rain or Shine's Jhonard Clarito led his team to a crucial 92-89 victory over NLEX Road Warriors in their PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday, earning Coach Yeng Guiao's praise for his relentless effort.

Clarito recorded a career-high 21 rebounds and scored 20 points, driving Rain or Shine’s comeback from an early deficit with 14 points and 13 rebounds in the final quarter alone.

Despite NLEX's second-half surge led by Xyrus Torres, Rain or Shine capitalized on their defensive efforts and rebounding to force a deciding Game 2 on Saturday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

Coach Guiao emphasized the importance of hard work and perseverance throughout the game, noting that Rain or Shine’s early lead came from seven three-pointers in the first half but relied heavily on defense thereafter.

Rain or Shine can complete their reversal on Saturday with a win to secure a spot against either Magnolia Hotshots or TNT Tropang 5G in a best-of-seven semifinal series.
