CJ Perez leads San Miguel Beermen to PBA Philippine Cup title

CJ Perez helped San Miguel Beermen clinch their PBA Philippine Cup championship in decisive Game 6 on Friday night, earning his third title and second all-Filipino ring.

Despite initial struggles with shooting efficiency throughout the series, Perez showcased his offensive prowess with a strong performance in Game 6, scoring 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting while contributing six assists, three rebounds, and one steal.

Perez reflected on his victory, acknowledging that he still has much to learn as he continues to grow and improve, emphasizing his commitment to handling future struggles and frustrations effectively.

San Miguel Beermen's victory in the clinching Game 6 at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City marked a significant comeback for the team, with the championship game concluding at 107-96 against TNT.

Perez celebrated his third PBA championship by drinking San Miguel Beer, recalling an earlier incident in 2018 when he was suspended during a college finals match and had to watch from his dorm room while drinking.

The victory also marked Perez's first win over longtime rival Calvin Oftana in a finals series after losing twice previously in college, with the two now set to be teammates for Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming Fiba Asia Cup.
