Chris Koon joins SGA, set for Dubai International Basketball Championship

Chris Koon has joined the Strong Group Athletics (SGA) for the Dubai International Basketball Championship from January 24 to February 2, completing their roster.

Koon, a former Ateneo standout who averaged 7.58 points, 4.17 rebounds, and 1.83 assists in his final year with the Blue Eagles, will start his professional career as a role player praised by head coach Charles Tiu for his shooting and defensive skills.

The team also includes former NBA players DeMarcus Cousins, Malachi Richardson, and Terry Larrier, NCAA Most Valuable Player Allen Liwag, and other notable Filipino players such as Mikey Williams, Rhenz Abando, Dave Ildefonso, Jason Brickman, Angelo Kouame, Tony Ynot, and Justine Sanchez.

SGA aims to improve on last year's runner-up finish in the tournament after losing to Al-Riyadi in a buzzer-beating defeat of 77-74.

Coach Tiu expressed optimism about Koon’s potential contributions as a role player given his background at Ateneo.
