CHR launches probe into Adamson student's alleged hazing death

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) launched a separate investigation into the death of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig, allegedly due to fraternity-related hazing.

CHR Region IV-A initiated its independent motu proprio investigation and called for urgent efforts from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and other agencies to progress the case.

The CHR emphasized that hazing violates human rights and endangers students' physical, emotional, and mental well-being, urging stronger implementation of Republic Act No. 11053 or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018.
