BI's deportation process questioned over Chinese POGO bosses' layover flights

Senator Risa Hontiveros questioned the Bureau of Immigration's (BI) deportation process during a Senate hearing, revealing that three deported Chinese POGO bosses did not return to China after layovers in Hong Kong.

Hontiveros disclosed these individuals used tickets with layovers to avoid detection and escape deportation, raising concerns about their current whereabouts.

BI confirmed the deportees purchased AirAsia tickets with transit stops and admitted they lack information on whether the three reached their final destination in China.

Gatchalian criticized BI's practice of allowing deportees to pay for their own tickets and book flights with layovers instead of direct flights, calling it 'foolish' and potentially enabling escape.

He urged a thorough investigation into the matter, suggesting there may have been a conspiracy involved, and emphasized that the whole world would laugh at the Philippines if such practices continue.
