Sen Hontiveros urges BI for info on ex-Bamban mayor's escape

On March 4, Senator Risa Hontiveros urged the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to provide substantial information within 15 days regarding former Bamban mayor Alice Guo's escape from the Philippines six months ago.

During a Senate hearing, BI Intelligence Division chief Fortunato Manahan admitted that they still lack clarity on how Guo and her siblings left the country despite sending inquiries to various Asian countries' immigration units last November.

Hontiveros criticized the BI for not conducting an internal investigation or identifying those responsible for Guo's escape.

Additionally, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) director Ferlu Silvio proposed a new theory suggesting that Guo and her siblings might have left through Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, then proceeded to Kuala Lumpur before heading to Batam, Indonesia.
