CHED condemns hazing after student’s death

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) condemned hazing and all forms of violence in higher education institutions following the death of John Matthew Salilig, a chemical engineering student at Adamson University.

CHED chairperson Prospero de Vera III stated that the commission will strengthen enforcement of the Anti-Hazing Law to eliminate hazing and violent acts in HEIs.

De Vera also commended Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla for ordering the NBI to conduct a parallel investigation on the case, urging authorities to expedite their investigation.

Adamson University held a requiem mass for Salilig and initiated its own investigation alongside cooperation with authorities.
