Cebu resident with UK variant visited NCR before testing positive

A 35-year-old Cebu resident who tested positive for the UK variant of COVID-19 was found to have been in Metro Manila before his diagnosis, raising concerns he may have acquired the virus there.

The patient visited Parañaque to finalize travel documents and spent nearly two months in Metro Manila without leaving.

Quezon City authorities are monitoring over 300 neighbors of the infected individual who was quarantined illegally in an apartment; eight showed symptoms while 106 were swab tested.

The OFW has since yielded negative results for COVID-19 but remains in quarantine due to recent mild symptoms.

Contact tracing is ongoing within a 50-meter radius where the patient stayed, and no lockdown is recommended at this time.
