Duterte backs out of Carpio debate, Roque to represent

President Rodrigo Duterte challenged retired Supreme Court justice Antonio Carpio to a debate on the West Philippine Sea issue.

Carpio accepted the challenge and urged Duterte to resign if he is proven wrong, while Malacañang advised Duterte not to participate directly.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque will represent Duterte in the debate hosted by the Philippine Bar Association.
