Carpio launches petition demanding Duterte retract West PH Sea statements

Retired Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio launched a signature campaign on May 14, demanding President Rodrigo Duterte to retract his statements regarding the West Philippine Sea.

Carpio criticized Duterte's claims that China is 'in possession' of the sea and called them detrimental to the country’s sovereignty.

The petition, titled 'President Duterte should RETRACT his damaging statements on the WPS', urges Duterte to withdraw remarks dismissing the arbitral ruling in favor of the Philippines as a scrap of paper.
