Carpio accuses Duterte of 'grand estafa' over West Philippine Sea

Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio accused President Rodrigo Duterte of committing 'grand estafa' for allegedly fooling the Filipino people with campaign promises about the West Philippine Sea.

Carpio reminded Duterte that during a 2016 debate, he promised to personally ride a jet ski to disputed islands and plant the Philippine flag, which Duterte later dismissed as hyperbole.

Duterte's spokesperson Harry Roque responded by saying Carpio has resorted to name-calling and that his statement is not estafa.
