Caraga Region Prepares for Tropical Storm Auring

The region of Caraga, particularly Surigao del Sur and other coastal areas, is bracing for Tropical Storm 'Auring'. The storm has prompted preemptive evacuations of thousands of residents ahead of its expected landfall on Sunday.

Local disaster management teams in the area have activated their operation centers and prepared essential equipment. Emergency hotline numbers are being disseminated to raise public awareness.

Surigao del Sur Governor Ayec Pimentel expressed gratitude for the cooperation of local residents, noting that evacuations were voluntary without any need for force.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued warnings about potential Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over several Caraga provinces as early as Friday.

In response to 'Auring', the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) director Col. James T. Goforth instructed all municipal and city police stations to coordinate with local disaster management teams for unified efforts during the typhoon.
