Enteng causes dam releases, floods towns in Bulacan

Tropical Storm Enteng caused rising water levels at several dams in Luzon, prompting operators to release water into river systems.

By Tuesday morning, Ipo Dam's reservoir level decreased slightly from 101.30 meters on Monday to 100.55 meters, while Bustos Dam continued releasing 1,300 cubic meters per second of water after reaching beyond its spilling level.

The release from the dams, combined with high tide, elevated water levels in several towns and cities in Bulacan, including Dulo Taliptip in Bulakan town where floodwaters swept through and made roads impassable for light vehicles.

Floodwaters also affected Angat, Balagtas, Baliuag, Bocaue, and Calumpit towns, with about 20 families using boats due to high flood levels in Brgy. Meysulao in Calumpit town.

Governor Daniel Fernando suspended classes at all levels in public and private schools as well as government work due to the storm, but essential services continued to operate.

Six areas are currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 2, while the eastern part of Bulacan remains under TCWS No. 1.
