Palace confident Congress will pass bill for LGU vaccine purchases

The Palace is counting on Congress to pass a bill amending the Government Procurement law, allowing local government units (LGUs) to make advance payments for COVID-19 vaccine purchases.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said this would address LGU concerns about their inability to proceed with vaccine procurement due to current restrictions.

Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado also raised the need to increase the 15% limitation on advance payments allowed under Republic Act 9184, to ensure timely and efficient implementation of the vaccination plan.
