Cayetano seeks dialogue with DBM on cost-cutting measures

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano is seeking a dialogue with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to discuss cost-cutting measures that may affect government programs and projects, particularly infrastructure.

Cayetano stressed the need for transparency and cooperation as DBM implements austerity measures due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He argued against DBM Secretary Wendel Avisado's circular halting funding for some infrastructure projects, citing the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act which allows President Duterte to augment the budget using savings from existing appropriations.
