BOC ready for quick release of COVID-19 vaccine shipments

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is prepared to expedite the release of COVID-19 vaccine shipments upon their arrival in the country.

Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero stated that pre-arrival clearance procedures will be used for vaccines to ensure quick release at the airport.

On Tuesday, BOC spokesperson Vincent Maronilla said X-ray examination is not allowed due to the sensitivity of the vaccines and that private companies have reached out to coordinate with the agency.

Maronilla also mentioned that the first batch of vaccines could arrive late this week or early next week.
