Batangas placed under state of calamity due to Typhoon Quinta

Batangas province and city were placed under a state of calamity due to damage caused by Typhoon Quinta.

The typhoon led to flooding, affected energy and agricultural sectors, and caused road closures and power outages.

As of Thursday, Oct 29, the death toll from Quinta rose to 16 with over 57,000 families or 242,000 individuals affected across several regions.

In Batangas City, more than 300 residents were evacuated after their homes were destroyed by heavy rains and strong winds.

The declaration allows the city government to access funds for rescue, recovery, relief, and rehabilitation efforts.
