Baguio still cool at 14.2°C amid weakening amihan

Baguio City is experiencing cooler temperatures despite the expected onset of the dry season, with recent readings at 14.2 degrees Celsius.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres noted that while the northeast monsoon or amihan continues to weaken, it still brings cooler temperatures and rainfall to Northern Luzon.

Other areas enjoying low temperatures include Tanay in Rizal (18.4°C), Basco in Batanes (18.7°C), and Laoag City in Ilocos Norte (20.4°C).

Torres predicts the northeast monsoon will continue to weaken over the next few days, leading to hotter temperatures as easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean affect much of the country.

Temperatures in Metro Manila are expected to range between 23°C and 33°C this week.

She advised the public to take precautions against the health impacts of rising temperatures as the dry season begins, with isolated rains expected in Bicol, Romblon, and portions of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
