Atong Ang sues two ex-employees for extortion attempt

Businessman Charlie Tiu Hay Ang, also known as Atong Ang, has accused two former employees of attempting to extort P300 million from him.

Julie A. Patidongan and Alan Bantiles, the alleged extortionists, threatened to implicate Ang and his family in the disappearance of sabungeros if he did not pay up.

Ang claims that Patidongan was initially involved in legal and financial assistance for those implicated in the 2022 disappearance cases but later turned against him with threats.

According to Ang's complaint affidavit, Bantiles insinuated that Patidongan might accuse Ang of involvement in criminal activities if the money demand is not met.

In June 2025, Patidongan appeared before GMA Network under an alias and implicated Ang and his family members without any evidence.

Ang vehemently denies all accusations, stating they are baseless and causing him irreparable harm through 'trial by publicity'.
