AirAsia seeks CAAP approval to transport vaccines

Philippines AirAsia, Inc. on Tuesday applied for authorization from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to transport and distribute coronavirus vaccines.

The airline has initiated technical training and engineering interventions to support vaccine cold chain logistics.

AirAsia is seeking special permission to operate charter flights to provincial airports equipped with wide-body aircrafts like the Airbus 320, aiming to expedite vaccine distribution efforts across the country.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific are already certified as dangerous goods handlers by CAAP.
