Alas Pilipinas wins historic bronze at AVC Challenge Cup

Team captain Jia de Guzman of Alas Pilipinas expressed pride after securing a historic bronze medal finish in the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup, marking the Philippines' best result in any AVC tournament in 63 years.

Despite entering the tournament without high expectations and limited preparation time, De Guzman described the victory as 'surreal', emphasizing her gratitude for playing with such talented teammates.

De Guzman highlighted the team's depth and adaptability, noting that they are looking forward to more preparation time for future tournaments including an exhibition match in Korea, followed by the FIVB Challenger Cup and the SEA V.League.

The team's strong showing with a 4-0 record before losing to Kazakhstan prepared them mentally and physically for the bronze medal match, where they capitalized on fan support to secure victory.

De Guzman expressed confidence that continuing to play will help the team improve and maintain their level of performance as they aim to build upon this success in upcoming competitions.
