Cayetano: Charter change needed but timing is key

Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano acknowledged on Monday the need for constitutional reforms, emphasizing the importance of proper timing.

Cayetano made this statement in response to House Committee on Constitutional Amendments chair Rufus Rodriguez's plan to discuss charter change proposals from over 1,400 mayors after President Duterte’s State of the Nation Address.

While Cayetano does not doubt the necessity of Charter change, he expressed skepticism about holding a plebiscite amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
