AJ Edu, Justin Brownlee shine in FIBA Asia Cup; GILAS finishes seventh

GILAS Pilipinas players AJ Edu and Justin Brownlee performed impressively in the recently concluded FIBA Asia Cup, finishing among the top statistical performers.

AJ Edu ranked fifth in rebounding (9.0 per game) and shot blocks (1.6 per game), while Justin Brownlee was the fourth-highest scorer with 20.6 points per game.

Despite their strong performances, GILAS Pilipinas finished seventh overall after being eliminated in the quarterfinals by Australia, who won the tournament.

The team's performance marked an improvement from their ninth-place finish in the 2022 edition of the FIBA Asia Cup.

Coach Tim Cone’s squad will look to bounce back in the upcoming FIBA World Cup Qualifiers starting in November.
