QC mayor calls for full vaccination of unvaccinated cops

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte is calling for the immediate vaccination of 536 unvaccinated police officers in the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) after 82 QCPD officers tested positive for COVID-19.

The Department of Health (DOH) criticized the QCPD for deploying cops who were still awaiting their test results during President Duterte’s final State of the Nation Address on July 26.

Philippine National Police chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar announced focused testing is ongoing for all other QCPD personnel to identify and isolate those infected.

Bayan, a left-wing coalition, condemned the QCPD's deployment of police officers who later tested positive for COVID-19 as a 'major failure'.

The infections were not linked to SONA duties; instead, poor compliance with health standards was cited by Mayor Belmonte.
