7 senators urge Comelec to extend voter reg deadline to Oct 31

Seven senators urged the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to extend the voter registration deadline from September 30 to October 31 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The proposed resolution aims to prevent disenfranchisement by allowing more time for unregistered voters to register, noting that around 13.3 million potential voters are currently unregistered.

Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto, Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon, and senators Francis Pangilinan, Nancy Binay, Leila de Lima, Risa Hontiveros, and Joel Villanueva signed the document.
