62-year-old passes Bar exam on first try

A 62-year-old Rosula Calacala passed the Bar exam on her first try, bringing tears of joy at the Supreme Court grounds.

Calacala began studying law at Northeastern College in Isabela at age 58 and never received a failing grade.

Her journey to becoming a lawyer started when she was encouraged by a relative to enroll her children in law school; however, they refused, prompting Calacala to take the challenge herself.

With support from her husband who runs a small business and two CPA children, Calacala passed among 3,812 examinees out of 10,387 participants, representing a pass rate of 36.77 percent.
