Another PUI hospitalized in Zamboanga del Sur

As of Saturday, March 21, another patient under investigation (PUI) in Zamboanga del Sur was hospitalized at the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center due to deteriorating health conditions.

This brings the total number of PUIs hospitalized to seven out of 76 recorded as of Friday evening.

The number of persons under monitoring (PUMs) increased to 6,051 from 5,288 on Friday morning, with 94 having been cleared after completing a 14-day quarantine period without symptoms.

Health workers regularly monitor PUIs and PUMs, many of whom have travel history abroad or are overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Swab samples taken from these individuals are sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) for testing, with the DOH set to deploy test kits to expedite examination.

Quarantine checkpoints have been established in all entry points of certain towns to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
