PRO-13 sends 596 police to BARMM for May elections

The Police Regional Office in Caraga Region (PRO-13) has dispatched 596 police personnel to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to support the May 12 midterm elections.

Led by PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano and Commission on Elections Assistant Regional Director Geraldine Samson, the send-off ceremony took place recently.

The contingent includes 537 male and 59 female officers, with nine commissioned officers and Lt. Col. Michael Lozada appointed as ground commander to oversee operations in BARMM.

These personnel will serve on special electoral boards across various provinces in BARMM to ensure an orderly election process.

Abrahano emphasized the importance of their mission and highlighted that they have received thorough training for this task, stating: 'You are well-prepared for this crucial task.'

PRO-13's deployment reflects the current peace and order situation in Caraga, which is manageable enough to allow for such support to other regions.

As of April 22, Caraga identified 13 areas requiring attention related to the elections across Surigao del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, and Agusan del Sur.
