Abra deploys extra police in 3 Orange, 6 Yellow areas for May election

Abra's Police Provincial Office has deployed additional personnel to areas classified as 'problematic' ahead of the May 12 election.

Three municipalities—Bangued, Pilar, and Bucay—are under the Orange security category due to serious armed threats, while six others fall under the Yellow category with a history of election-related incidents.

Lt. Col. Daniel Pel-ey, Abra PPO information officer, assured that police personnel will monitor events and maintain peripheral presence to prevent violence.

There is concern about potential shortages on Election Day if teachers do not serve as election board members, leading to the training of around 100 police personnel for this role.

Pel-ey urged supporters of political aspirants to remain calm and courteous to avoid misunderstandings or incidents.
