Duque tasks Cagayan de Oro, Gingoog to step up contact tracing

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III instructed public health workers in Cagayan de Oro and Gingoog cities on Monday, July 19 to intensify contact tracing efforts to control the spread of the Delta variant.

Cagayan de Oro Mayor Oscar Moreno reported that all five confirmed Delta variant cases have been safely isolated.

Moreno agreed to place Cagayan de Oro under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to the capacity of healthcare facilities, with a utilization rate of 63-62 percent.

Health authorities initially planned to release five recovered patients but decided to keep them in isolation after confirming they had the Delta variant.
