496 Filipinos evacuated from Sudan; DFA coordinates with Egypt

As of Friday, April 28, at least 496 Filipinos have evacuated Sudan's capital Khartoum and are now in neighboring countries.

The DFA is coordinating with Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Greece for the passage of evacuees through respective Philippine embassies.

On Friday, 340 Filipinos crossed into Egypt from Sudan after delays at the border due to document processing issues.

Eight Filipinos also arrived in Greece on a Greek military aircraft.

DMW Secretary Susan Ople reported that Filipino evacuees will travel by land for about 15 hours to Cairo and then board a chartered flight back home.

The DFA has provided food, water, and basic essentials to evacuees at the border and is arranging accommodation in Egypt.
