Philippines logs 1,453 new COVID-19 cases, death toll hits 146

The Philippines reported 1,453 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total infections to 492,700.

The death toll rose by 146, the highest since September 14, with most deaths occurring in December and previous months due to late reporting.

Quezon City had the highest daily increase with 95 new cases, followed by Cavite, Manila, Davao City, and Cebu City.

Total recoveries reached 458,523 after 397 more patients recovered, while active cases stood at 24,478, with most being mild or asymptomatic.
