DOH requests BuCor report on Bilibid COVID-19 cases

DOH has requested BuCor to submit a complete report on COVID-19 cases following deaths of high-profile inmates in New Bilibid Prison.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that DOH initially receives figures from BuCor and later verifies the identities.

Senator Lacson said there is no compelling reason to suspect foul play, focusing instead on more pressing matters.

Vergeire reminded jail authorities to observe health protocols including screening for symptoms and contact tracing.

BuCor spokesperson Colonel Gabriel Chaclag reported 343 confirmed cases with 19 deaths and 311 recoveries.
