Senators file reso condemning Chinese activities in WPS

Eleven Filipino senators filed Senate Resolution 708 on Monday condemning China's illegal activities in the West Philippine Sea.

The resolution states that Chinese ships' continued presence violates the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the 2016 Permanent Court of Arbitration ruling in favor of the Philippines.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon led the filing, with support from ten other senators.

On Tuesday, Malacañang expressed respect for the senators' stance against China's presence in the West Philippine Sea.

Democratic coalition 1Sambayan also threw its support behind the resolution on Wednesday.
