Zuellig Pharma boosts cold chain capacity for COVID-19 vaccine

Zuellig Pharma has acquired 10 new ultra-low freezers to increase its cold chain capacity in the Philippines for the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

These 10 freezers, in addition to the 14 already deployed, will allow for the storage of over 7 million vaccine doses requiring temperatures between -70°C and -80°C.

The company has existing cold room facilities in Santa Rosa, Laguna; Sun Valley, Parañaque; Cebu; and Davao, with a capacity for 629 million vaccine doses at 2°C to 8°C.

Additionally, Zuellig Pharma possesses walk-in freezers capable of storing up to 52 million doses at -15°C to -25°C.

Zuellig's cold chain also includes the eZCooler solution, which extends the storage time of temperature-sensitive products in transit.

The Philippine government plans to procure 148 million vaccines this year to inoculate up to 70 million Filipinos.
