Bulacan preps cold storage for COVID-19 vaccines

The provincial government of Bulacan is preparing cold storage facilities for the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines.

One inspected facility, Royale Cold Storage in Plaridel, can accommodate up to 350 million doses.

Plaridel Mayor Tessie Vistan mentioned the local government plans to store AstraZeneca vaccines purchased from the pharmaceutical firm at this facility.

The cold storage facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to maintain consistent vaccine temperatures, even during power outages.

It can store vaccines from AstraZeneca, Sinovac, and Moderna, which require temperatures between 2 to 8 degrees Celsius.

The facility is open to all local government units, and Plaridel is targeting to inoculate 70% of its population.

The Philippines has allocated P73.2 billion for vaccine procurement, with funding from multilateral agencies, domestic sources, and bilateral agreements.
