Western Visayas requires negative RT-PCR tests for all inbound travelers

All inbound travelers to Western Visayas are now required to present a negative RT-PCR test result obtained within 72 hours prior to their trip, a measure implemented due to a spike in COVID-19 cases.

This requirement applies to all individuals entering Region 6, including returning residents, overseas Filipino workers, and authorized persons outside of residence.

The decision was agreed upon by the governors of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental, along with the mayors of highly urbanized cities Iloilo and Bacolod.

This protocol takes effect on Saturday, March 20, 2021, in Iloilo City and Iloilo province.

The temporary measure will remain in effect until April 10, or sooner if any of the local government units decide to lift it.

The surge in cases is particularly noted in Iloilo, where over 100 call center agents tested positive.

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. urged residents to remain vigilant and consider Iloilo as being under the strictest community quarantine status.
