UN expert to train PH doctors in forensic pathology

A UN expert on forensic pathology, Dr. Morris Tidball-Binz, will spearhead a program to enhance the skills of 35 government doctors in the Philippines in forensic pathology.

Dr. Tidball-Binz, also the UN Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Killings, arrived in the Philippines on February 6 and will stay until February 8.

The training, which will also include prosecutors, aims to upgrade skills in forensic pathology and investigative work.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated that the initiative aims to build the capacity of government medical professionals and investigators.

Dr. Tidball-Binz is expected to return to the Philippines between May and August to conduct further capacity-building programs.

The program is funded by the UN Joint Programme with the Philippines.
