Tuguegarao City to enforce ECQ Aug 12-21 amid COVID-19 surge

Tuguegarao City will be under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 12 to August 21, 2021, due to a significant increase in COVID-19 cases.

The city has seen a surge in active infections, from 500 a week ago to 724 as of Tuesday, August 10.

Mayor Jefferson Soriano stated the imposition was approved by the regional Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) with a potential seven-day extension if needed.

The city government cited an average daily attack rate of 31.80%, the highest in the Cagayan Valley region, and nine COVID-19 deaths in a single day as reasons for the stricter measure.

Executive Order No. 98 prohibits mass gatherings, limits religious services to online masses, and restricts food establishments to take-out and delivery services only.

The sale and consumption of liquor are banned, and individuals below 18 and above 65 years old are not permitted to go outside.

A curfew will be enforced from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, and public transportation will be suspended throughout the ECQ period.
