Tourism dept launches pharmacy vaccination drive

Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat expressed that the new "Pharmacy and Drive-thru Vaccination Sites" initiative will aid in the country's reopening preparations by ensuring the safety of tourism workers and visitors from COVID-19.

The initiative aims to make booster shots more accessible and convenient by allowing people to get vaccinated at participating pharmacies like Watsons and Mercury Drugstore, eliminating the need for long queues.

Secretary Puyat, along with other government officials, launched the program in Baguio City, which also included the turnover of COVID-19 response logistics to the local government.

Tourists visiting Baguio City can now receive their COVID-19 booster shots at Watsons Pharmacy and Mercury Drugstore, and both initial vaccinations and boosters at the Baguio Athletic Bowl.

Puyat lauded Baguio City officials for their successful efforts in vaccinating residents, with 100% of tourism workers and 97% of the eligible adult population fully vaccinated.

Baguio City remains open to visitors, but they are required to present negative RT-PCR or rapid antigen test results taken within 72 or 24 hours prior to arrival, respectively.
