Tropical Depression Crising forms, to bring rains to parts of PH

A low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) developed into Tropical Depression "Crising" on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 8 am.

Crising is the third tropical cyclone to enter the PAR in 2025 and the second for July.

As of 10 am on Wednesday, the tropical depression was located 725 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, moving west at 35 kph with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

The tropical depression is expected to bring heavy rains over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, and Biliran.

The southwest monsoon will also cause strong to gale-force gusts across Palawan, Camiguin, Southern Leyte, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands.

No tropical cyclone wind signals have been raised yet.

Crising is projected to be closest to Northern Luzon by Friday evening, July 18, with a possibility of passing close to or making landfall in the Babuyan Islands or mainland Cagayan.

PAGASA warned of possible floods and landslides in affected areas.
