LPA east of Luzon may become Tropical Depression Crising within 24 hours

A low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a medium chance of developing into Tropical Depression Crising, the third tropical cyclone this year, within the next 24 hours.

Located 1,040 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon, the LPA is moving northwestward.

Weather specialist Veronica Torres said the LPA could intensify into a tropical depression by late Wednesday to early Thursday.

Moderate to heavy rains, ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters, are forecast on Wednesday in Antique, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over CARAGA, Eastern Visayas, and parts of the Bicol Region due to the low-pressure area.

The Southwest Monsoon will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, Calabarzon, and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides due to anticipated moderate to heavy rainfall.
