Tabuk City declared under state of calamity due to dengue outbreak

Tabuk City in Kalinga has been declared under a state of calamity due to a significant increase in dengue cases.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council made the declaration following a report of a 1,758% rise in dengue cases, with 762 recorded as of July 30.

This alarming surge compares to only 37 cases during the same period last year.

Three patients have already died from dengue in the city, and 83 others are currently receiving hospital treatment.

The declaration will enable the city government to utilize its quick response fund for intensified anti-dengue measures.

These measures include fogging, misting, and spraying in homes and schools before the resumption of face-to-face classes.

Mayor Darwin Estrañero will also mobilize barangay health emergency response teams to aid in community-wide dengue control efforts.
