QC intensifies anti-dengue campaign amid 109% case increase

The Quezon City government is intensifying its anti-dengue campaign due to a significant increase in cases.

Mayor Joy Belmonte has directed the QC Health Department to lead city-wide "search and destroy" operations in partnership with community officials and residents.

The primary goal is to enforce anti-mosquito measures and educate residents on personal protection, with a focus on areas that have the highest dengue case counts.

The "search and destroy" strategy involves the community in identifying and eliminating potential mosquito breeding grounds like discarded containers and tires.

From January 1 to July 21 this year, Quezon City recorded 1,098 dengue cases, a 109.14 percent increase from the 525 cases during the same period last year.

Six dengue-related deaths have also been reported in the city within this timeframe.

In addition to "search and destroy," residents are urged to implement other 4S protocols: Secure Self-Protection, Support fogging in hotspots, and Seek early consultation for symptoms.
