SWS: Mask wearing steady, physical distancing dips slightly

A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey from July 3 to 6 revealed that 76% of adult Filipinos always use a face mask when going out, a slight decrease from 77% in May.

The same SWS survey indicated that 65% of Filipinos always wash their hands several times a day, and 59% observe physical distancing of at least one meter.

Obedience to mask-wearing and handwashing protocols hardly changed since their May survey, when strict lockdowns were in place.

However, physical distancing observance slightly decreased from 64% in May to 59% in July.

These figures were released shortly after the government relaxed community quarantine protocols nationwide.

The July SWS survey showed that Metro Manila had the highest observance of safety practices like wearing face masks, washing hands, and physical distancing.

Observance of safety practices was also highest among college graduates and lowest among non-elementary graduates.
