Supporters flock to Noynoy Aquino's wake at Ateneo

Supporters began lining up outside the Ateneo de Manila University campus in Quezon City for the public viewing of former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III's wake.

The public viewing of his urn was scheduled to take place at the Church of the Gesù within the university grounds from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., following a private arrival ceremony.

Many supporters wore white and yellow, colors associated with Aquino's Liberal Party, and observed social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Strict health and safety protocols, including contract tracing forms, were to be implemented for visitors.

Aquino, 61, passed away on Thursday morning due to renal disease secondary to diabetes, with his remains cremated later that day and burial scheduled for Saturday.

He served as a representative for Tarlac's second district from 1998 to 2007 and as a senator from 2007 to 2010.
