Ateneo opens doors for public viewing of Noynoy Aquino's remains

Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) welcomed home its alumnus, the late former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, on Friday, June 25.

The university opened its doors for the public viewing of the cremated remains of the country's 15th president, who died in his sleep on Thursday, June 24, due to renal disease secondary to diabetes.

ADMU President Fr. Roberto Yap, SJ, called Aquino an "illustrious son" and a "true-blue Atenean," noting that the former president completed his elementary, high school, and college education at the university, graduating with a degree in Economics in 1981.

Fr. Yap recalled Aquino's 2016 message to graduating students, urging them to engage with society and be agents of change.

He also described Aquino as a "person for others, a leader for others, a president for others imbued with competence, conscience commitment and compassion."
