Spox Roque, OVP spox trade barbs over vaccine infomercial offer

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque mistakenly claimed that Vice President Leni Robredo "volunteered" to do a joint infomercial with President Duterte to boost vaccine confidence.

Lawyer Barry Gutierrez, spokesperson for the Office of the Vice President, clarified that Robredo never "pushed" or "volunteered" for such an infomercial, accusing Roque of lying.

Gutierrez stated that Robredo had simply expressed willingness to participate in a vaccine infomercial, a suggestion that originally came from Senator Joel Villanueva.

Despite being called out, Roque insisted that Robredo initiated the idea, stating, "To me, it was really volunteering."

Gutierrez further labeled Roque as a "habitual liar" due to his persistent claims.

During a prerecorded public address, Roque had claimed Robredo "volunteered" to appear in the infomercial as vaccinations were increasing, expressing surprise given her past criticisms of the government's vaccination program.
